A new industrial and harbour facility rooted in West Norwegian coastal typologies, combining robust maritime functionality with architectural clarity and strong landscape integration.

The Amundsneset project on Lepsøy comprises the detailed zoning and development of a new industrial and quay facility for Samba Marine AS in Bjørnafjorden municipality. The regulation plan enables industrial production, harbour infrastructure, office and staff facilities within the purpose category “other commercial use,” as well as sea areas for harbour operations and necessary road adjustments.

LOCAL was commissioned to strengthen the architectural quality of the project as a key premise for achieving approval of the zoning plan. Through a clear architectural concept supported by environmental impact assessments, site and cultural heritage analysis, and a concrete project proposal, the plan was successfully adopted. The project demonstrates how a contemporary industrial building can reinterpret the West Norwegian coastal typology while reinforcing local identity and adapting carefully to the landscape.

Following zoning approval, LOCAL developed the sketch and detailled design phases and acted as design consultant during the construction, in collaboration with A/STAB, who acted as planning consultant. The building is conceived with a strong relationship to the sea, generous daylight conditions and a clear structural logic, combining robust industrial performance with architectural precision.
