LOCAL proposes a new meeting place for all generations in the city of Ames in Galicia. We design a familiar shape with a traditional gable roof as a new domestic space. A simple way that can generate a positive social value of inclusion and belonging while feeling less institutional.

We offer an adaptable and highly flexible building that requires little maintenance and can accommodate a wide variety of spatial configurations. The building is connected to the ground so the green spaces around become its natural extension where multiple activities for all ages happen; a productive landscape with an orchard, tree nursery, bee hives and a public plaza for a building that opens to all inhabitants of the city.

Galicia is an important producer of wood at a European scale while still being reluctant to use it in abundancy in new constructions. We propose a sustainable building with locally sourced natural materials that is durable, economically feasible and allows for a low energy consumption.
