From clubhouse to community hub

Sport facilities and youth centers are more than buildings — they are social infrastructures that activate communities and promote well-being. At LOCAL, we approach these projects as inclusive hubs that bring people together across age groups and interests. Our work places strong emphasis on youth-focused initiatives as drivers of both physical and mental health.

The Fossvang project, located centrally in Bagn, transforms the historic Fossvang club house (built in 1947) into a future-oriented activity house.

The new building is shaped by dialogue with local users, the club, and the community stakeholders. The design centers around a flexible activity hall tailored for both sports and cultural use, such as choir and marching band rehearsals. It is supported by a fixed lighting rig to allow quick and easy use. The ground floor includes changing rooms, a meeting room, storage, and a kitchen/café with a dedicated social area to foster informal interaction and community life.

Outdoor functions are also considered, with a new kiosk and public restrooms serving the surrounding landscape and activity areas.
