In Bergen’s historic centre, LOCAL is shaping a unique transformation where heritage and contemporary living converge. Four protected properties are carefully adapted into a vibrant restaurant and thoughtfully designed apartments, uniting history, comfort, and modern gastronomy within a preserved architectural setting.

Currently under construction, the project involves the rehabilitation and interior concept development of four protected properties in Bergen’s historic center. LOCAL has carried out a complex change of use from office to residential, working closely with the City Antiquarian and the County Conservator to safeguard the cultural heritage of these premises, with buildings dating back to the early 1800s and a basement structure from medieval times.

The ground floor will host a vibrant restaurant, while four efficient and carefully designed apartments above maximize space through smart layouts and optimized circulation. An integrated glass-covered courtyard creates a bright and inviting heart of the block, connecting the façades facing Hollendergaten and Magdalenagangen. With minimal exterior interventions, the interiors are revitalized through a balanced combination of preserved and new materials, enhancing both function and comfort.

The project offers a contemporary living and dining experience within a protected architectural framework.
