The project transforms and extends the 1960´ existing building to become a regional destination, co-locating diverse cultural programs for the local community and seasonal tourism.
The Hagelund Theatre & Arts Centre project, led by LOCAL and Thornström Brookfield Arkitekter, aims to renovate and extend the existing cultural center in Trysil to accommodate multiple cultural services. The design is carefully aligned with the recently adopted city center plan, adhering to established guidelines on location and building height. A key focus is on preserving the architectural qualities of the original Hagelund Cultural Center while upgrading it to meet modern standards, ensuring it becomes a state-of-the-art cultural facility.
The project explores three alternatives for incremental development, all of which share common elements such as entrances, café/bar areas, and elevators. The renovation will improve the building’s universal accessibility, enhance technical installations, and meet Riksteatret’s guidelines for theater spaces. Central to the design is the renovation of the stage and auditorium, ensuring they meet modern theater requirements. The project also addresses the need for visually appealing spaces, aiming to make the center a vibrant hub for all age groups.
By transforming the current building and co-locating a diverse cultural program—including a theater, library, offices, exhibition spaces, and shops—the Hagelund Centre will become a cultural beacon, enhancing the cultural life of Trysil.
